Refund Policy

Last updated: November 1, 2025

Should a student's enrollment be terminated, or should a student withdraw for any reason, refunds are made according to the schedule below. This policy reflects our School Catalog and New Jersey vocational-school requirements.

Our cancellation guarantee

You'll receive a full refund with written (email) cancellation at least 24 hours before your course or first class. To cancel, email eric.viveiros@njhec.org with your name, the course, and the date, your written request is what sets your refund date.

How to cancel or withdraw

  • All cancellations and withdrawals must be made in writing, dated and signed by the student.
  • It is best to hand-deliver the withdrawal letter and have a copy signed by the admissions officer, or to send it by Certified Mail or email.
  • Refund calculations begin the week your written notification is received.

Reimbursement schedule

  • Cancellation after the first business day but before the first class results in a refund of all monies paid, with the exception of administrative fees.
  • For courses of 300 hours or less, the school may retain the administrative fee plus a pro-rata portion of the tuition, calculated on a weekly basis.
  • For programs of 300 instructional hours or more, refunds after attendance has begun are pro-rated by instructional hour (an instructional hour is 60 consecutive minutes including attendance, instruction, and project set-up and clean-up).
  • Administrative fees are non-refundable.

Textbooks, exams & third-party fees

Textbooks, e-books and online content are purchased by the student directly from the publisher, and certification exam fees are paid to the certifying body (e.g., AMCA). These third-party costs are governed by those providers' own policies.

Loans & outside funding

If you withdraw or your enrollment is terminated, the school will reimburse any lending institution for balances due in accordance with this refund policy. Students remain responsible for repaying their loan for instruction received.
